How BGJHS 8th grade students feel about high school
Students encounter transitions throughout their educational career. Everybody goes from elementary to middle school, then on to high school, and on to different paths in your life depending upon your personal choices. Eighth graders at Bowling Green Junior High School are feeling the stress about transferring into this new chapter in their life.
The transition from eighth grade to high school can be very stressful on some people. Freshmen are exposed to new experiences such as walking into a whole new school, not to mention that they will be the first class walking into the newly-constructed high school as they have been working on for nearly 5 years, starting back in 2018. Then there’s new teachers, new students, and new decisions that could direct the future for them..
¨High school seems pretty hard from what I´ve heard, but I think I might be okay,¨ said eighth grader, Fernando Avelar.
¨I’m excited for high school. I know it´ll be hard at times, but I think I´m ready,¨ said Mallory Berman, eighth grader at BGJHS.
For BGJHS, high school registration and preparation starts this week, beginning on the 28th of March.
¨I think really all I can do is have good grades. And I think you have to pay attention to prepare for work next year,¨ said BGJHS eighth grader, Sarah Reeder.
Ariel Matthews said, ¨Yea, especially if you’re in sports. I guess it will help with high school.¨
Eighth graders are growing more excited as the time nears. Although, nervousness comes right with it. BGHS ninth grade counselor Ms. Jessie Baker came to BGHS to answer any questions as well as explain the flow of a freshmen’s daily life while enrolled at the high school. Eighth grade students also visited the high school to see it in-person.
All these transitions help eighth graders for their new chapter in high school.
